Railway Minister Launches ’14-Minute Miracle’ for Rapid Vande Bharat Express Turnaround

Vande Bharat Express trains are gearing up for their next trip within a remarkable 14-minute turnaround time after thorough cleaning. Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to launch this initiative on October 1, aptly named the ’14-minute miracle.’

This efficient cleaning and preparation process will be initiated at 29 locations, with the Railway Minister himself participating at Delhi Cantt station. Stations in Chennai, Puri, Shirdi, and others will also benefit from this improvement.

In contrast, Japan’s bullet trains achieve a ‘7-minute miracle,’ getting cleaned and ready for their next journey in just seven minutes. Currently, it takes around three to four hours to clean a train in India, whereas the Vande Bharat Express requires 45 minutes for the same task.

To achieve this feat, each coach of the Vande Bharat train will be staffed with four cleaning personnel trained for manual cleaning. This ’14-minute miracle’ scheme is being implemented as part of the ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign by the Railway Ministry.
