New Delhi: Donald Trump announces plans to meet PM Modi during his upcoming US visit.Former US President Donald Trump revealed on Tuesday that he will be meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi next week during Modi’s visit to the United States. Trump, who is currently campaigning as the Republican presidential candidate, made this announcement while addressing a crowd in Michigan.

Praising PM Modi, Trump called him a “fantastic man” but also referred to India as a “very big abuser” in terms of trade relations. Trump pointed out that India places high tariffs on imported goods. He stated, “India is a very big abuser. Modi is coming to meet me next week, and he’s truly a fantastic leader. I have to say, many of these leaders are incredible.”

While Trump did not provide further details about the meeting, PM Modi’s visit to the US is scheduled from September 21 to 23. During his visit, he will participate in the Quad Summit and address the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

The Quad Leaders’ Summit, the fourth of its kind, will be hosted by US President Joe Biden in Wilmington, Delaware. The Quad, an alliance of the United States, India, Japan, and Australia, focuses on cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region.

Following the summit, PM Modi will travel to New York, where he will address a gathering of the Indian community in Long Island on Sunday. The next day, he will deliver a speech at the Summit of the Future at the UNGA. This year’s summit focuses on the theme ‘Multilateral Solutions for a Better Tomorrow’, addressing global challenges and future solutions.

Apart from these significant meetings, PM Modi is expected to engage with leading US business executives. His discussions with CEOs will focus on expanding cooperation between India and the US in areas like artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing, semiconductors, and biotechnology, according to India’s foreign ministry.

The Prime Minister is also expected to meet thought leaders and other influential figures to strengthen the growing India-US partnership. The last time PM Modi and Trump met was in February 2020 during Trump’s visit to India, which Modi described as a “path-breaking” moment for the two nations.

PM Modi’s upcoming trip is expected to further bolster ties between the US and India, especially in the fields of trade, technology, and strategic partnerships.
