Disruption Erupts at Jatra Show as Audience Expresses Anger over Short Performance

1 min read

Tension flared up during the jatra performance in the Barapadia area of Angul district’s Kishorenagar block on a Tuesday night. The disturbance arose following the brief appearance of jatra artist Nisha Moharana. Reports indicate that the Odisha Samrat opera party had set up camp in the area, and the organizers had promised the audience a significant performance by Nisha during the jatra.

However, the audience was left dissatisfied when Nisha’s appearance on stage lasted only 10 minutes. This led to a heated confrontation between the organizers and some disgruntled audience members, resulting in chairs being thrown onto the stage. The jatra show came to a halt for nearly an hour due to this incident but eventually resumed after the organizers managed to appease the upset spectators.

According to the organizers, Nisha’s brief performance was due to her being unwell, but the audience had anticipated a longer show. They expressed their displeasure by tossing chairs onto the stage.
