2 min readA distressing incident involving the disappearance of a 30-year-old Odisha youth vanishes from Odisha has unfolded. Ranjan Swain, originally from Khurda district, had been employed at Emirates International Facilities Management in Abu Dhabi for three years. On August 18, he was set to return to India, and the last communication with his family was when he shared his flight details with his sister.
However, Ranjan Swain has been missing for over 50 days, leaving his family in a state of anguish. His journey took a troubling turn shortly after his arrival at Delhi airport from Abu Dhabi via Mumbai. Allegations of kidnapping have arisen, as he disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
The family’s distress is compounded by the fact that Ranjan was the sole provider for them, and his sudden absence has created financial hardship. The NGO Global Odia volunteers confirmed his departure from Abu Dhabi and his arrival in India on August 18. According to the FIR, the family and the NGO have received information that certain individuals are demanding a ransom while threatening his life. These developments have led to suspicions of a kidnapping case in and around Delhi.
Ranjan Swain initially went to Abu Dhabi through a recruitment company three years ago, financing his journey with a loan. After several days of searching for him, the family filed a complaint in Odisha, prompting Odisha Police to visit Delhi for the case. Although some clues were found with the help of IGI Airport police, the investigation did not yield significant results. Subsequently, an FIR was lodged in Delhi on October 15 under Section 365 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code. The case remains under investigation by the Delhi Police
